This Anti-Bullying Policy outlines our approach to preventing and addressing bullying in all forms.

Bullying is defined as repeated, intentional behavior that causes harm or distress to an individual or group. It can take many forms, including but not limited to:

  • Physical bullying: Hitting, pushing, tripping, or damaging someone's belongings

  • Verbal bullying: Name-calling, teasing, making hurtful jokes, or spreading rumors

  • Social bullying: Excluding someone from a group, spreading rumors, or damaging someone's reputation

  • Cyberbullying: Using technology, such as social media, texting, or online games, to harass, intimidate, or threaten others

  • Psychological bullying: Intimidation, threatening behavior, or manipulating someone's emotions to make them feel inferior or unsafe

4. Objectives of the Anti-Bullying Policy

The goals of this policy are to:

  • Prevent bullying from occurring in the first place through education, awareness, and a strong school culture

  • Respond promptly and effectively to any bullying incidents

  • Support victims of bullying and ensure they feel safe and heard

  • Encourage positive behavior, respect, and empathy among all members of the Mides Academy community

5. Responsibilities

  • Students are expected to:


    • Treat all others with kindness, respect, and consideration

    • Report any bullying incidents they witness or experience to a trusted adult

    • Stand up for themselves and others in a safe and constructive way

    • Refrain from engaging in any form of bullying behavior

  • Staff are expected to:


    • Promote a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment

    • Actively monitor student behavior and intervene when necessary

    • Be approachable to students and provide support for those who report bullying

    • Follow the procedures outlined in this policy when dealing with bullying incidents

  • Parents/Guardians are expected to:


    • Encourage their children to engage in positive behavior and respect others

    • Support the academy’s anti-bullying efforts and communicate any concerns regarding bullying

    • Work with the school to resolve bullying situations in a collaborative manner

6. Procedures for Reporting and Responding to Bullying

  • Reporting: Any student, staff member, or parent/guardian who witnesses or is affected by bullying should report it to the appropriate staff member. Reports can be made verbally, in writing, or through a confidential reporting system (if available).


  • Investigation: Once a bullying incident is reported, the school will investigate the situation promptly. Investigations will include gathering statements from those involved, witnesses, and other relevant information.


  • Response: After the investigation, appropriate action will be taken based on the severity of the bullying. This may include:


    • Talking to the student(s) involved and providing support to the victim

    • Implementing educational interventions for the bully (e.g., conflict resolution, counseling)

    • Disciplinary action, such as detention or suspension, if the bullying persists or is severe

    • Restorative practices to help repair relationships and promote accountability

  • Follow-Up: Once the bullying incident has been addressed, follow-up will be conducted to ensure the issue has been resolved and that both the victim and the perpetrator are supported. The school will monitor the situation to prevent further incidents.


7. Support for Victims of Bullying

Mides Academy is committed to providing support for those who have been affected by bullying. This may include:
